5G Wireless Technology is Coming to Wisconsin – With No Proof of Safety

Utility companies working for Big Telecom are installing powerful Fifth Generation (5G)-enabled “small” cell antenna on utility poles, street lights, traffic signals, buildings and bus stops in our Wisconsin neighborhoods.  In our front and back yards.  Near schools and parks.  Where we live, work and play!  In the public rights-of-way. Maybe right outside your bedroom window.  Involuntary exposure to wireless radiation1 all day, every day.

Governor Tony Evers Signs 5G Bill

In July 2019, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers signed the 5G Bill (Act 14), despite opposition by citizens across the State and letters written to him by scientific, medical and other experts issuing warnings. Even State Representatives from Milwaukee and Madison opposed the 5G legislation. Instead of taking his time to study the issues, he pushed forward so Wisconsin would not fall behind other Midwest states. Do we really want driverless cars?

The 5G network promises what many feel are non-essential perks like driverless cars, smart appliances, better virtual reality, faster downloads, artificial intelligence, Smart Cities and the Internet of Things (IoT), which means virtually everything we own and buy will have a microchip or antenna and will connect wirelessly, from milk cartons to refrigerators, toothbrushes to diapers. So your refrigerator can send a message to your cell phone to buy milk!

Issues of concern include safety, security, privacy, property value decline and the health and well-being of Wisconsinites.

You cannot turn it off. You cannot opt out.  There is a big difference between voluntary exposure and involuntary exposure. The installation of “small” cells in neighborhoods, spaced 2-10 homes apart, across Wisconsin and the United States will result in involuntary exposure to a proven health hazard. That’s just wrong.

Independent Science Proves Harm

A growing body of independent, peer-reviewed and published science is proving biological harm from current 2G/3G/4G exposure such as: increased cancers in children and adults, DNA damage, infertility and miscarriage, headaches, tinnitus, heart irregularities, endocrine (hormonal) effects, adverse impacts on immunity, lack of concentration, memory and cognitive impairment, behavioral problems, insomnia, fatigue, nosebleeds, nausea, dizziness, anxiety/depression, suicidal ideation, interference with medical devices such as pacemakers, electromagnetic sensitivity (a/k/a microwave sickness, radio-frequency sickness) and more from exposure to wireless radiation from wireless technologies such as: cell phones, WiFi, tablets and Chromebooks, laptops, home assistants, wearables, wireless baby monitors, utility “smart” meters, cell towers and 4G/5G “small” cell antennas. 

Children are more vulnerable to the harm from wireless radiation because of their thinner skulls and developing brains and bodies.

Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our kids.

Dr. Martin Pall, a wireless radiation expert, explains that it is not just the power level that is the main issue. The spiked, erratic, digital pulses of wireless radiation that carries data is the hazard. Will 5G Help Rural Wisconsin?

5G will not necessarily bring broadband to underserved or rural communities; fiber-optic cable is still required to do that. In an interview with Wisconsin Public Radio on June 20, 2019, Tom Still of the Wisconsin Technology Council said it would “not immediately” bring broadband “because of the investment that will be required.”

And at the Public Hearings in Madison on May 29, 2019 about the 5G legislation, the telecom industry said they plan to focus on the urban areas of Wisconsin.

Even FCC Commissioner Rosenworcel said of the September 26, 2018 FCC Order to streamline 5G deployment:  “Not one wireless carrier has said that this action will result in a change in its capital expenditures in rural areas.” 

No Proof of 5G Safety

5G has not been proven safe and there are thousands of independent, peer-reviewed and published scientific studies proving acute and chronic health effects from wireless radiation.  Watch the video presentation below by Martin L. At a U.S. Senate Commerce Hearing, U.S. Senator Blumenthal:   “I believe the American people deserve to know what the health effects are…We are flying blind here on health and safety.”  The industry concedes it has done no research.

Sample Phone Message – I’m calling to ask the (Senator or Representative) to please protect our health, privacy, safety, security and the environment by prohibiting telecom companies from placing powerful 5G antenna all over our neighborhoods without local review.  We have a right to determine how to integrate wireless technology into our own community.  Telecom companies should not be allowed to override local control.  I’d like to know what (Senator  or Representative) is doing to stop the placement of these cellular antenna in my front yard?  I’d like (him/her) to support faster, safer, more reliable wired fiber optics all the way to the premises.  Could (he/she) please call me back.  Thank you.
